Israeli Airstrike Wounds Dozens in Southern Lebanon, Violating Ceasefire

Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on southern Lebanon, targeting the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, resulting in at least 14 to 24 people wounded, according to reports from Lebanese authorities.
The strikes represent a serious breach of the fragile ceasefire that went into effect in November 2024.
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, a drone launched a guided missile at a small vegetable truck traveling near Al-Rawdat School on a road in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
The explosion destroyed the vehicle and also damaged nearby parked cars. Less than an hour later, a second strike hit the Zawtar–Nabatieh road, roughly two kilometers from the first target.
The Israeli military stated that the first strike hit a Hezbollah weapons convoy — including a truck carrying arms — which it had been monitoring. In its defense, Israel claims these operations are consistent with its right to neutralize “direct threats” under the terms of the ceasefire.
Lebanese political leaders strongly condemned the raids. The country’s caretaker Prime Minister called the attacks a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and appealed to the international committee overseeing the ceasefire to pressure Israel into compliance.
These strikes come amid ongoing tensions along the Israel–Lebanon border, as large numbers of displaced southern Lebanese have started returning to their villages.
Despite the agreed-upon withdrawal timetable, Israeli troops remain positioned at several strategic points in southern Lebanon, raising concerns that the temporary truce may be fraying.
