The Government of Bangladesh has appointed Major General Kaysar Rashid Chowdhury as the new Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), the country’s premier military intelligence agency.

According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Defence, Major General Chowdhury has been assigned the responsibility with immediate effect. He succeeds the outgoing Director General as part of a routine reshuffle within the Bangladesh Armed Forces’ senior command structure.

Major General Chowdhury is a senior officer of the Bangladesh Army with extensive experience in command, staff, and intelligence-related assignments. Throughout his military career, he has reportedly held key operational and administrative positions, contributing to strategic planning and national security operations.

The DGFI plays a central role in safeguarding national security, conducting military intelligence activities, and coordinating with other domestic and international security agencies. The appointment comes at a time when regional and global security dynamics continue to evolve, requiring enhanced intelligence coordination and operational preparedness.

Officials stated that the transition of leadership is expected to ensure continuity in intelligence operations and reinforce the agency’s mandate of protecting the country’s sovereignty and strategic interests.
