Power supply from India's Adani Power Plant to Bangladesh has stopped due to technical glitches at the plant, according to officials from the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh PLC (PGCB).

The first of the two 800-megawatt (MW) units at the plant shut operations on April 8. The second unit followed suit, shutting down at approximately 12:45am early today, confirmed ABM Badiuzzaman, public relations officer of PGCB.

"There are technical glitches in the power plant," Badiuzzaman said.

Following the complete disconnection of the Adani plant, PGCB data indicates that the national power generation shortfall has surged to around 500 MW, the highest recorded load shedding so far this year.

A PDB official said engineers from the plant were trying to resolve the problem, adding that the power situation may worsen in the coming days.
