Over 100 Killed in Gaza as Trump Urges Hamas to Surrender

At least 111 Palestinians, including 91 people waiting for aid, were killed in the past 24 hours amid a deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Crowds gathered near aid distribution points were struck by gunfire, resulting in dozens of casualties and over 800 people wounded throughout the enclave.
Famine-related deaths are rising sharply, particularly among children, with reports indicating that 154 individuals have died of malnutrition, including seven children in a single day. Over 1,000 people have reportedly been shot while trying to access humanitarian assistance near key border crossings.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, addressing the crisis, stated that the fastest way to end the suffering in Gaza is for Hamas to surrender and release the remaining hostages, estimated to number around 50. His statement comes amid shifting positions, with growing criticism of Israel’s management of the conflict and aid distribution.
Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has traveled to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in efforts to restart ceasefire negotiations and address the urgent humanitarian needs. Witkoff is also scheduled to visit a U.S.-backed humanitarian facility operating in Gaza as an alternative to international aid agencies.
While Israeli officials blame Hamas for the breakdown in talks, the aid crisis continues to escalate. Civilian casualties near aid zones have added to the growing international outrage, as conflicting accusations persist over who is responsible for the deaths of those seeking food and medical care.
Several Western nations, including Canada, France, Portugal, and the UK, have warned that they may formally recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September if no resolution is reached. In response, Israel is considering new territorial claims and has imposed restrictions on Palestinian Authority officials.
As diplomatic momentum builds and the humanitarian toll deepens, the region stands at a critical crossroads. Trump’s call for Hamas to capitulate places pressure on all sides, framing surrender as the only viable option to end the crisis.
