The event, taking place on 17–18 April at Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, highlights the dynamic potential of Bangladesh's economy.
A total of 32 exhibitors from eight key sectors—apparel, leather, jute and handicrafts, IT, agro-food, poultry, and seed—are participating, offering an opportunity for Bangladeshi businesses to connect directly with international partners, according to a statement by the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), the event's organiser.
Everything is not perfect in Bangladesh, but there are many positives. We have already taken steps such as the green channel for streamlined trade processes and the One-Stop Service model to facilitate investment, said Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), whilst inaugurating the show.
Charles Whiteley, head of South Asia Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS), stated, "With a skilled workforce, competitive wages, innovation, improving infrastructure, and digitalisation, Bangladesh has all the ingredients to diversify its exports. The EU will continue to support Bangladesh's reform journey, particularly on labour rights."
"The RMG sector in Bangladesh is driven by hard work, entrepreneurship, and responsibility, which could become a model for future business. Dutch companies are eager to collaborate with Bangladesh. A new partnership between our countries will be launched here tomorrow," said Pascalle Grotenhuis, director-general for international cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
Tareque Muhammad, Bangladesh's ambassador to the Netherlands, called upon Dutch investors to visit Bangladesh and witness the potential across sectors such as textiles, agri-food, and technology.
