The three-day ’DIU Book Fair 2026’ concludes with a huge turnout

The three-day 'DIU Book Fair 2026' held at Daffodil International University (DIU) has concluded successfully with the participation of 21 publishers and a huge turnout. The book fair, organized at the Student Lounge of Knowledge Tower, Daffodil Smart City, from August 9 to 11, with the presence of more than 7,000 visitors daily, received a huge response from students, teachers, and researchers.

Organized jointly by DIU Library and DIU Press with the aim of increasing the interest in reading books among students and developing a regular reading habit, 21 renowned publishing houses of the country participated in this fair in collaboration with Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association. The official sponsor of this fair was the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) of UGC. A large number of students, teachers, and researchers participated spontaneously in this three-day event, creating a lively and festive atmosphere around books and knowledge pursuits across the campus.

On August 9, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Masum Iqbal, inaugurated the book fair. Senior officials of DIU, representatives of UGC's Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), and eminent writers of the country were present at the event. After the inauguration ceremony, the guests, including the Acting Vice-Chancellor, visited various stalls of the book fair and talked to the publishers about books and publications.

21 renowned publishing houses of the country participated in the fair through the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association. Various types of publications, including Bengali and English language literature, novels, stories, poems, essays, and academic and research books, were displayed and sold at various stalls. As a result, DIU teachers, students, and researchers got the opportunity to collect various types of books according to their needs and interests.

The book fair was open to DIU teachers, students, officials, researchers, and members of the university family from 9 am to 4 pm every day. More than 7,000 visitors gathered at the three-day fair every day. The presence of a large number of visitors made the book fair lively and reflected the interest in reading books and knowledge on campus.

Regarding the organization of the book fair, the university authorities said, "The habit of reading books is very important in building a knowledge-based and creative society. Along with academic education, regular reading of books enriches the thinking power, creativity, and knowledge of students. Such an event creates an opportunity for students to get acquainted with new books and authors and increases their interest in seeking knowledge. The spontaneous participation of the DIU community in the 'DIU Book Fair 2026' proves that the university family has an interest in books and reading. Such initiatives will continue in the future to encourage students' knowledge and reading habits."

Various types of books were displayed and sold to visitors at various stalls of the publishing houses participating in the fair. Throughout the three days, students got the opportunity to collect their favorite books as well as learn about various publications and new books. The book fair provides an opportunity to read books on literature, culture, history, research, and various contemporary topics in addition to academic studies.
