Mobile Courts to Be Conducted for Dengue Prevention: Health Minister

As part of intensified efforts to prevent dengue, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain has announced that mobile courts will be conducted every two to three days. He stated that institutions or premises where dengue mosquito larvae are found will face fines and other legal actions.

The minister made the announcement on Saturday morning while inaugurating a three-month special dengue prevention campaign at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

Speaking at the event, Sakhawat Husain warned that medical experts fear this year's dengue outbreak could take a more severe form. He noted that hemorrhagic dengue, a serious variant of the disease, may cause bleeding complications among infected patients. He emphasized the need for greater public awareness and proactive preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection.

The minister also stressed that combating dengue requires not only government action but also active participation from citizens. He urged residents to ensure that no stagnant water accumulates in homes, offices, or surrounding areas, as such environments serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

At the event, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam highlighted the importance of public awareness in controlling dengue. He revealed that a recent survey conducted by the city corporation identified 63 wards in the southern part of the capital as being at risk of dengue, with 28 wards categorized as highly vulnerable.

Abdus Salam stated that effective dengue prevention depends on joint efforts by both citizens and the city corporation. According to him, successful control of the disease is possible only when both parties fulfill their responsibilities equally.

With the onset of the dengue season, the Ministry of Health and local government authorities have launched coordinated initiatives to strengthen public awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, and regular monitoring activities aimed at preventing the spread of the disease.
