One Dies of Dengue, 338 Hospitalised in Bangladesh in 24 Hours

Bangladesh reported one more death from dengue and 338 new hospital admissions over the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The latest figures were released by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room in its daily dengue situation report.

The DGHS said the highest number of newly admitted patients was recorded in the Dhaka Division, while fresh dengue cases were also reported across several other parts of the country. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as the monsoon season increases the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.

With the latest fatality, the cumulative number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen further, while the total number of infections has continued to climb, reflecting sustained transmission nationwide.

The health authorities have urged people to remain vigilant by eliminating mosquito breeding sites, preventing stagnant water from accumulating around homes and workplaces, and seeking prompt medical attention if symptoms such as fever, severe headache or body aches develop.

Public health experts have warned that dengue cases typically rise during the rainy season and stressed that community participation, environmental cleanliness and early diagnosis remain the most effective measures for reducing infections and preventing severe illness.
