No Putin–Zelenskyy Summit Set Until a Clear Agenda Is in Place-Russia’s Foreign Minister

Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, confirmed today that no meeting is currently planned between President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stressing that such a summit would only proceed after a clearly defined agenda is agreed upon by both sides.
Lavrov emphasized that President Putin remains open to the prospect of direct talks, but stated that key issues must first be resolved by officials before any schedule can be set. He highlighted that the current absence of an agreed agenda makes planning a summit premature. He also noted, however, that Russia has shown flexibility on several points raised recently by U.S. President Donald Trump.
This stance comes amid U.S.-led efforts, including those by former President Trump, to arrange a bilateral or even trilateral summit involving both leaders. Yet, Lavrov’s remarks underline the diplomatic complexities and divergent preconditions still impeding progress.
The announcement follows growing tension on the battlefield and limited movement in peace negotiations, as Moscow remains cautious of security discussions in the absence of formal talks and mutual agreement on formats and guarantees.
