Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been diagnosed with intestinal inflammation caused by food poisoning, according to an official statement from his office. The 75-year-old leader became ill overnight and was examined by Dr. Alon Hershko, a specialist in internal medicine from Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Following the examination, Netanyahu was found to be suffering from intestinal inflammation and dehydration.

He is receiving intravenous fluids and has been advised by his medical team to rest at home for at least three days. Despite his illness, Netanyahu will continue to perform his official duties remotely during this recovery period. His office confirmed that while his condition is not severe, the prime minister will remain under close observation.

This incident adds to a series of recent health issues for Netanyahu, including a cardiac procedure in 2023, hernia surgery in 2024, and prostate-related surgery later that same year. The latest illness has led to the postponement of in-person events, including court-related appearances.

His trial on corruption charges will resume in September after the court’s summer recess. Authorities have not disclosed the specific cause of the food poisoning, but stress that the prime minister’s current health is stable and improving.
