Multiple high-rise residential towers in Gaza City have been severely damaged or destroyed in recent days as part of an escalating Israeli airstrike campaign. Among the structures hit were the Al-Kawthar and Unknown Soldier Towers, both located in highly populated neighbourhoods.

Residents reported hearing evacuation warnings issued before the strikes, yet fled with little to no time to gather essentials. The destruction left scores of displaced families homeless and triggered widespread panic as buildings collapsed into rubble.

Satellite imagery and ground-level assessments confirm that over 50 multistorey residential buildings have been levelled in Gaza City over recent weeks. Entire neighbourhoods, particularly in western sectors such as Zeitoun, have been decimated, leaving portions of the city with little more than broken foundations and dust.

Humanitarian agencies warn that this destruction has exacerbated an already dire situation, compounding displacement, diminishing shelter options, and worsening civilian suffering amid shortages of food, water, and medical care. Authorities continue to investigate claims by Israeli officials that some of the targeted towers were used by militant groups, an assertion disputed by residents and aid organisations.
