Government Working for Overall Development of Farmers: Social Welfare Minister Prof. Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain

Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof. Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain has said that the government is implementing various initiatives to ensure the overall development of farmers.

He made the remarks on Friday afternoon at a seed and fertilizer distribution program organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension at the Upazila Parishad hall in Birampur.

The minister stated that the government is not limited to initiatives such as family cards, farmer cards, or loan waivers; rather, it is pursuing comprehensive programs for farmers’ development. He emphasized ensuring that they reach farmers properly and that they remain aware of their rights.

He added that proper access to incentives and increased agricultural production will improve farmers’ financial conditions, leading to economic self-reliance at the family, village, and union levels.

Despite global challenges, he said, the government is working to protect the agricultural sector.

At the event, seeds and fertilizer for mung beans were distributed among 20 farmers, while five farmers received beekeeping boxes.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanjina Khatun and Agriculture Officer Komol Krishna Roy, along with other local officials, were present.
