WeGro’s Nourish 55: A Hybrid Maize Seed Joining the Farmers’ Stories of Hope
Published : 18:06, 17 November 2025
Preparations for maize cultivation have begun across different regions of the country. At this crucial time, farmers have received WeGro’s new hybrid maize seed, Nourish 55, which is already generating a positive response in the field.
WeGro has long been providing high-quality agricultural inputs and crop management guidance to farmers. Building on that experience, the company has introduced its own hybrid seed—WeGro Nourish 55.
Farmers who have received the seed have expressed satisfaction with its germination and consistent seedling growth. Findings from two years of field trials—covering plant vigor, stable yield per bigha, and resilience in adverse weather—have strengthened WeGro’s confidence in this seed.
According to WeGro, with proper crop management, farmers can expect 50 to 55 maunds of yield per bigha (33 decimals) using Nourish 55. The plants are structurally strong, reducing the risk of lodging during storms or heavy rain.
The cobs produce larger, uniform kernels, helping farmers secure better market prices. The crop can be harvested within 135–145 days of sowing, enabling farmers to prepare their land for the next cultivation cycle sooner.
WeGro adds that the launch of this in-house hybrid seed comes after years of partnership experience with renowned seed companies in Bangladesh. The goal is simple: to offer farmers an even more reliable seed option and to ensure profitable yield at the field level.
In the context of the growing demand for maize cultivation across Bangladesh, WeGro hopes that Nourish-55 hybrid maize seed will mark a new beginning for farmers nationwide.
