WeGro, the Bangladesh-based agri-fintech startup working to transform agriculture through technology, has once again earned significant international recognition.

The company has been selected as a finalist in Startmeup.HK Global Startup Competition 2025, organised by the Hong Kong government.

Standing out among innovative ventures from more than a hundred countries, WeGro’s achievement is being seen as an important milestone for Bangladesh’s technology and agri-innovation sector.

The Startmeup.hk competition evaluates startups across four key criteria—innovation strength, technological capability, business scalability, and social impact.

According to organisers, WeGro demonstrated commendable performance across all four areas. Industry experts note that technology-driven models rooted in local agricultural realities, like WeGro’s, are helping place Bangladesh more prominently on the global innovation map.

Earlier, WeGro secured the championship at the Singapore FinTech Festival 2024, surpassing competitors from over 130 countries. Winning at one of the world’s largest fintech stages significantly strengthened the company’s global presence and credibility.

WeGro works to support smallholder farmers by integrating four major components into a single technology-enabled platform—investment access, quality agricultural inputs, on-field production support, and market linkage.

Its objective is to reduce farmers’ production costs, increase profitability, and ensure easier access to markets, ultimately strengthening rural economies.

WeGro’s CEO and Co-Founder, Md. Mahmudur Rahman stated, “Bangladesh’s agriculture is not just a food-producing sector; it is the backbone of our socio-economic progress.

Our goal is to bring the innovation and potential of our farmers to the global stage. These international recognitions reaffirm that Bangladesh’s agri-technology solutions are now globally competitive.”

Industry analysts say such recognition reflects not only the success of one organisation but also the growing global confidence in Bangladesh’s emerging startup ecosystem and agricultural innovation landscape.

According to WeGro, showcasing the stories and innovations of Bangladeshi farmers on the world stage is more than celebrating success—it stands as tangible proof of the strength, resilience, and potential of the country’s agriculture sector.
