In a significant gesture of unity and shared purpose, the candidates for the upcoming 2025–27 executive committee election of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) convened for a cordial meet and greet to explore avenues of collaboration and strategic development for the country’s rapidly growing e-commerce sector.
Held in Sheraton Dhaka on May 3, 2025, the gathering brought together candidates from diverse backgrounds who engaged in open dialogue about the challenges, shortcomings, and opportunities within Bangladesh’s digital commerce ecosystem. Discussions focused on the urgent need to improve regulatory frameworks, strengthen consumer trust, ensure fair competition, and upgrade logistics and digital payment systems.
Candidates unanimously acknowledged that while the sector has seen exponential growth in recent years, it still faces several critical issues such as policy gaps, inconsistent customer experiences, lack of capacity-building for small entrepreneurs, and limited integration of innovation and technology.
The participants expressed optimism about the upcoming election, anticipating a fair and constructive democratic process. They stressed the importance of electing a competent and committed leadership team that can represent the interests of all stakeholders and drive the sector toward long-term sustainability.
“We may contest for different positions, but our core vision is aligned to see Bangladesh’s e-commerce industry thrive with transparency, accountability and innovation,” one candidate remarked.
The event ended on a hopeful note, with attendees pledging to maintain a spirit of collaboration, regardless of the election results. They emphasized that the future of e-commerce in Bangladesh depends on a united industry voice and consistent efforts toward structural improvement.
The e-CAB election is scheduled to take place on 31st May, 2025 and the business community is closely watching, hoping for a leadership team that will unlock the full potential of digital trade in Bangladesh.
