Rajshahi experienced the lowest temperature of the current winter season, with the mercury dropping to 7 degrees Celsius early Tuesday morning. This seasonal low was recorded at around 6:00 AM, marking the coldest point so far this winter.
Cold conditions have intensified across the country, and a **cold wave has been sweeping through 10 districts, including Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Rangamati, Jashore, Kushtia, and Chuadanga. Weather officials classify the phenomenon as mild to moderate cold wave conditions, and the lower temperatures have been accompanied by widespread fog in many areas.
According to meteorological forecasts, this chilly pattern is expected to continue for the next few days before temperatures begin a slight rise by mid-January. The Bangladeshi Meteorological Department has noted that while daytime temperatures may increase marginally, the overall cold weather, including cold wave conditions, is likely to persist until around January 10–11.
The fall in temperatures has affected daily life, with many residents experiencing stronger cold sensations, especially in the northern and north-western regions.
