Police Reveal Chilling Details About Serial Killer ‘Emperor’ in Savar

Police in Savar have revealed disturbing details about a suspected serial killer following the arrest of a man accused of being involved in at least six murders linked to the recovery of multiple bodies from an abandoned municipal community centre.
The suspect, identified by police as Moshiur Rahman Khan Emperor (40), was arrested by the Savar Model Police Station. Investigators allege that he lived under the disguise of a homeless person and used the abandoned Savar municipal community centre as his hideout.
Police said the arrest followed analysis of CCTV footage related to the most recent recovery of two bodies from the abandoned building.
Officers matched the suspect’s movements, location, and timing with the footage and placed him under surveillance before conducting an operation that led to his arrest.
During initial interrogation, police claim Emperor confessed to involvement in six murders, including the latest pair of bodies found at the site.
According to Helal Uddin, the suspect is not mentally ill but became psychologically unstable due to excessive substance abuse. He allegedly told police that killing had become an addiction and that he referred to murder using coded terms such as “Thirty Four” or “Sunday Monday Close.”
Police also revealed that “Moshiur Rahman Khan Emperor” is not the suspect’s real name. Investigators believe he used an alias to conceal his identity and said his actual home is not in Savar.
Authorities suspect he may have committed other crimes elsewhere before settling in Savar and adopting a transient lifestyle. Efforts are underway to confirm his true identity.
Investigators said that after allegedly killing an elderly woman named Asma Begum on July 4, 2025, the suspect moved permanently into the abandoned community centre and began living on its ground floor.
Over the past five months, five bodies were recovered from the building, prompting regular police surveillance of the area. However, due to a lack of concrete evidence, authorities were initially unable to take legal action against him.
Savar police officer-in-charge Arman Ali said the accused has confessed to the murders and that police are now working to identify the victims. He added that investigators suspect the man may be involved in additional crimes beyond the six killings already confessed to, and further investigation is ongoing.
Police also said the suspect often spent nights at the Model Mosque in the Savar bus stand area before moving into the abandoned building. On Monday (January 19), the accused gave a confessional statement in court admitting his involvement in the six murders.
During interrogation, he reportedly told police that he killed people he saw engaging in what he described as immoral sexual behavior, again using his coded language to describe the acts.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation and more details are expected to emerge as police continue questioning and forensic work.
