Saudi Ambassador Meets President Mirza Fakhrul

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Jafar H. Bin Abiyah paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.
During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed congratulations from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office as President.

Welcoming the Saudi ambassador, the President called on Saudi Arabia to continue supporting Bangladesh amid the ongoing global energy crisis. He also stressed the importance of expanding trade and investment between the two countries at both public and private levels.
The President urged measures to make the Hajj journey easier and more comfortable for Bangladeshi pilgrims. He particularly requested improvements to bathing and sanitation facilities in Mina. The Saudi ambassador assured him that appropriate steps would be taken.
Noting that more than 3.5 million Bangladeshi workers are employed in Saudi Arabia, the President expressed gratitude to the Saudi government and requested that Bangladesh continue to receive priority in future manpower recruitment.
Through the ambassador, President Mirza Fakhrul invited King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time. He described Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia relations as excellent and emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation further.
The President praised the leadership of the Saudi King and Crown Prince and extended his best wishes for their role in promoting the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The Saudi ambassador assured continued cooperation in energy, assistance and investment.
The meeting was the first between President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and a foreign diplomat since he assumed office, giving it particular diplomatic significance. Senior officials from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
