New CUET Vice-Chancellor Enters Administrative Building After Breaking Lock

Professor Dr Sheikh Shariful Alam, the newly appointed vice-chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), entered Administrative Building-2 after its lock was broken on Monday morning.
He entered the building at around 7:45 am on October 12.
His entry has sparked fresh tension on campus amid an ongoing movement by teachers and students demanding the reinstatement of former vice-chancellor Professor Dr Abu Sayeed Muhammad Sayem.
After entering the administrative building, several people seated the vice-chancellor in a chair and took photographs with their mobile phones. The pictures later circulated on social media.
Protesting students claimed that the new vice-chancellor was expected to remain in Dhaka on October 11 and 12. Based on that information, they had not maintained regular watch at the university’s main gate. The students believe he entered the campus taking advantage of the situation.
However, the university administration has not issued an official statement on the incident so far.
