Netanyahu to Join Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ Despite Earlier Objections

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to join the United States-led “Board of Peace”, a new international initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at overseeing peace and governance arrangements in and beyond the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu’s decision comes despite earlier objections from his office about the board’s composition, particularly concerns over some members and advisory roles that Israel initially said were not coordinated with its government.
The Board of Peace was first introduced by President Trump as part of his broader plan to manage the Gaza ceasefire and post-war arrangements. What began as a smaller group focused on Gaza has since expanded into a more ambitious body with invitations extended to many countries and leaders around the world.
The board is chaired by Trump himself and is envisioned to address conflict resolution, reconstruction, and governance issues, with participating states expected to play roles in diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.
Netanyahu’s earlier reservations included objections to aspects of the board’s executive committee, including the inclusion of officials from regional powers whose positions have previously been at odds with Israel’s policies.
Nevertheless, Israeli officials later announced Netanyahu’s acceptance of the invitation, signaling a potential shift in engagement with the U.S.-proposed framework.
The move underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Israel, the United States, and other international partners in the search for stability following prolonged conflict in Gaza.
Several other countries have already accepted invitations to join the board or have engaged with its charter, while some nations have declined or remain undecided.
The initiative has drawn debate among global leaders and analysts regarding its scope, its relationship to existing international institutions, and its potential impact on long-standing diplomatic processes.
