Popular Bangladeshi rock star James, known as Nagar Baul, and members of his entourage have reportedly become involved in an unexpected controversy during a recent visit to Rome, Italy.
James and his team were staying at an apartment at a Best Western hotel while attending a concert in Rome on August 16. According to allegations, the apartment was left in a heavily untidy condition after the guests checked out. The hotel reportedly requested an additional €200 cleaning fee.
The allegations emerged after screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation and several photographs were circulated on social media. The messages, reportedly sent by the hotel management to an event representative named Moaz, expressed dissatisfaction over the condition of the apartment after the guests left.
Photographs circulated online reportedly show used plastic water bottles and other waste scattered across the floor. Food leftovers, plastic bags and used dishes were also visible on the dining table. One photograph appeared to show raw eggs and unwashed dishes in the kitchen sink.
In a message reportedly sent by the hotel management, the representative was informed that the apartment required additional cleaning and that a minimum payment of €200 would be required for the final cleaning if the facility were to be used again.
The hotel reportedly also indicated that failure to pay the additional cleaning charge could affect future accommodation arrangements for the organizer or the guests.
Meanwhile, allegations of fraud have also reportedly been raised by the event organizers against James's manager, Robin, in connection with the concert. However, no official response from James, his manager or their representatives has so far been made public regarding either allegation.
The screenshots and photographs have triggered various reactions on social media, with many users emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and responsible behavior while staying at hotels or using public facilities, particularly when representing Bangladesh abroad.
However, the authenticity of the circulated screenshots and photographs, as well as the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged €200 charge, could not be independently verified. Further clarification may emerge if the hotel, event organizers, James or his representatives issue formal statements on the matter.
