In one of the most devastating escalations yet, Russia launched its largest aerial assault on Ukraine since the onset of the war, deploying over 800 combat drones alongside multiple cruise and ballistic missiles in a sweeping, multi-city bombardment. Kyiv’s Cabinet of Ministers building was struck for the first time, its roof and upper floors set ablaze in what officials warn represents a troubling escalation in Russia’s campaign.

At least three civilians were killed in the attack, including a mother and her infant. Across the nation, scores of people were wounded, and numerous residential areas were damaged. Ukraine's air defenses managed to intercept the majority of incoming threats, though the sheer volume of drones and missiles deployed marked a stark shift in tactical intensity.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes as a deliberate effort to prolong the conflict and demanded enhanced air defense assistance from Western allies. Leaders in Europe and the U.S. responded swiftly with condemnation and renewed discussions on punitive measures against Russia.
