State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain has announced his intention to resign. He made the announcement in a social media post on Monday morning, October 19.
In the post, Hossain wrote that he would make a final announcement regarding his resignation from the ministry at 2:00 pm at the National Press Club and address journalists.
He also said he had seen some people on Facebook expressing delight over the announcement. He expressed hope that if a movement or struggle becomes necessary in the future, they would be inspired by nationalist ideals and return from abroad to join it.
Hossain further stated that after stepping down, he would work against drugs with significantly greater enthusiasm—not as a member of parliament or a state minister, but as a BNP activist. He also said he would intensify cleanliness campaigns and visit various districts to strengthen the organisational capacity of the Projonmo Dal nationwide.
