Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has taken an initiative to strengthen security across the metro rail network by installing archway metal detectors and luggage scanners at all stations. The move aims to ensure passenger safety and identify suspicious items.

According to a DMTCL official, the modern security equipment will be used to screen passengers’ bags and other belongings and help prevent unwanted incidents. The initiative is intended to make security checks at stations more effective.

The procurement process has already begun, with DMTCL inviting electronic tenders for the equipment. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, general manager of the company’s Store and Procurement Department, published the relevant notice on October 19.

The notice instructs interested and eligible organizations to submit their tenders through the national e-Government Procurement (e-GP) portal. Details regarding eligibility conditions, required documents and other tender-related information are available through the e-GP portal and the designated help desk of the relevant authority.

Alongside the procurement of security equipment, the same tender notice also covers maintenance of various electrical systems at the depot of MRT Line-6.

The work includes an annual maintenance contract (AMC) for low-voltage electrical systems, diesel generator sets, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, ventilation systems and other general electrical works at the depot.

The contract aims to ensure regular monitoring and maintenance of the depot’s electrical and auxiliary power systems. Keeping these systems operational is important for maintaining uninterrupted metro rail services.

According to the published tender notice, the specified period for purchasing the initial required tender documents is November 11, 2026, between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Interested organizations must follow the prescribed procedures to participate in the tender process.
