Dhaka: Bangladesh's rapidly growing coffee and café industry has entered a new chapter with the official launch of Café Amazon Bangladesh, one of Thailand's most popular coffee chains. The brand has been introduced through a strategic joint venture between Bashundhara Group and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTT OR) of Thailand.
The journey of Café Amazon in Bangladesh officially began on Thursday (August 6) with the inauguration of its flagship outlet in Bashundhara Residential Area, followed by a grand launch celebration at the atrium of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall in Dhaka.

Industry stakeholders believe the arrival of Café Amazon represents more than the entry of an international coffee brand. It is expected to contribute to Bangladesh's modern retail sector by creating new opportunities for investment, entrepreneurship, and employment while enhancing the country's café culture.

Under the visionary leadership of Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Chairman of Bashundhara Group, the conglomerate has consistently introduced internationally recognized products, services, and business ventures to Bangladesh. Through Café Amazon, the company aims to provide consumers with a world-class café experience while supporting long-term economic growth and business development.

Café Amazon Bangladesh plans to expand well beyond a handful of outlets. The company intends to establish a nationwide franchise network, creating opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs across the country and making premium international café services more accessible to customers.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Chairman of Bashundhara Group, and Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan, Managing Director of Tanvir Bashundhara Group (TBG).

The partnership with PTT OR was led by Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan, whose leadership helped bring the globally recognized Thai coffee brand to Bangladesh. The collaboration reflects both organizations' commitment to international service standards, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

Speaking at the launch event, Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan said, "We do not see Bangladesh merely as a growing market; we see it as a country with extraordinary potential. Through our partnership with PTT OR, we are introducing a world-class brand that will create new opportunities for consumers, entrepreneurs, and the broader economy. Café Amazon marks the beginning of a larger journey of international collaboration that will contribute to Bangladesh's economic and social development."

The grand opening featured an array of cultural and entertainment attractions, including traditional Thai cultural performances, Muay Thai martial arts demonstrations, customer engagement activities, live performances by renowned Bangladeshi artists Habib Wahid and Xefer Rahman, and appearances by Café Amazon's popular mascot "JonJon." Visitors enjoyed an immersive experience highlighting Thailand's culture and hospitality.

Among the distinguished guests were H.E. Thitiphorn Chirasawatdi, Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka; Anusorn Kautipbittaya, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) of the Royal Thai Embassy; and Pozzana Paniyangvait, President of the Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce. Senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and executives from Bangladesh and Thailand also attended the event.
