President Congratulates Bangladesh on Victory in UN General Assembly Presidency Election

President Mohammad Shahabuddin has congratulated all those involved following Bangladesh’s successful election to the presidency of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, describing it as a landmark achievement for the country’s diplomacy.

In a message issued on Wednesday, the President said the victory reflects Bangladesh’s diplomatic excellence, growing international credibility, and strong commitment to multilateral cooperation.

He extended his congratulations to the government, the country’s diplomatic corps, Foreign Minister-elect UNGA President Dr. Khalilur Rahman, and the people of Bangladesh for securing the prestigious position.

The President noted that the support and confidence shown by UN member states demonstrate Bangladesh’s increasing influence and respected standing in the international community. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the countries that supported Bangladesh during the election.

Highlighting the significance of the achievement, Shahabuddin expressed confidence that under Dr. Khalilur Rahman’s leadership, the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly will contribute meaningfully to global peace, sustainable development, international cooperation, and the strengthening of multilateralism.
