Japanese Mitsui Delegation Meets Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

A delegation from Mitsui & Co., one of Japan’s leading trading and investment corporations, met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday to discuss investment opportunities and economic cooperation in Bangladesh.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office located within the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the discussion, both sides explored prospects for expanding investments in key sectors, including food, agriculture, energy, and information technology. The government highlighted its commitment to maintaining an investment-friendly environment and assured the delegation of full support for foreign investors seeking to do business in Bangladesh.
The delegation was also informed about government initiatives to streamline business operations and approval procedures through an integrated “One-Stop Service” system. Officials said the initiative would help investors complete required processes more efficiently and with fewer administrative hurdles.
Among those present at the meeting were Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Economic and Planning Adviser to the Prime Minister Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan, and Finance Secretary Md. Khairuzzaman Majumder.
The Mitsui delegation was led by Makato Sato, Chief Executive Officer for the Asia-Pacific region and Executive Vice President of the company. Other members included Takanobu Murayama, Chief Strategy Officer of the Asia-Pacific Business Unit, Kenichiro Kawamoto, Country Chairperson of Mitsui Bangladesh, and Md. Moniruzzaman, Deputy General Manager of the company’s Dhaka office.
