Dhaka: Veteran journalist, poet, and television presenter has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Television (BTV) on a one-year contractual basis with the rank of Grade-1.
The appointment was announced on Thursday through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. A separate notification also cancelled the remaining tenure of Md. Mahbubul Alam, who had been appointed on a two-year contract in September 2024.

The change comes as part of a broader administrative reshuffle across government institutions following the formation of the BNP-led government, with Bangladesh Television becoming the latest state-owned organization to receive new leadership.

According to the government notification, Kazi Jesin must resign from any other profession, business, or affiliation with government, semi-government, private institutions, or organizations before assuming his new responsibilities.

Throughout his journalism career, Kazi Jessin has worked with several leading Bangladeshi media outlets, including Amar Desh, NTV, Channel One, Ekushey Television, Banglavision, and Jamuna Television.

He succeeds Md. Mahbubul Alam as the head of the state-owned broadcaster and is expected to lead BTV's efforts to strengthen its public service broadcasting and organizational development.
