Happy Birthday to Megastar Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Uzzal

Today, April 28, marks the birthday of the celebrated Bangladeshi film actor, director, producer, and megastar Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Uzzal. On this special day, fans, well-wishers, and members of the film fraternity extend their heartfelt wishes for his good health, happiness, and long life.

Uzzal currently serves as the Cultural Affairs Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He is also the President of the Nationalist Cultural Alliance, a former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Film Producers and Distributors Association, and a member of the Bangladesh Film Directors Association, Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association, Bangladesh Flying Club (lifetime member), and the Dhaka University Alumni Association.

Born on April 28, 1946, in Jayantihar village of Shahjadpur, Pabna (then part of British India), Uzzal completed his M.A. in International Relations from the University of Dhaka in 1970. During his university years, he was deeply involved in theatrical activities, often performing as the lead actor in plays staged at the university’s TSC center. Among his co-actors was the now-renowned actress Sujata. His early success in theater and television drama quickly drew the attention of film directors.

Uzzal made his film debut in 1969, starring opposite famed actress Kabari in Binimoy, directed by the legendary Subhash Dutta. Throughout a prolific career spanning several decades, he appeared in over 200 films. Initially recognized as a romantic hero, he later established himself as an action hero as well.

In 1982, Uzzal ventured into film production with Nalis under the banner of his production company, Uzzal Films Limited. Through this company, he produced around 10-15 films, further enriching the Bangladeshi film industry.

Some of his notable films include Duti Mon Duti Asha, Onubhob, Onurag, Nalis, Nosib, Kudrat, Fakir Mojnu Shah, Balaka Mon, Kacher Swargo, Nijere Haraye Khunji, Shanibarer Chithi, Opobad, Oporadh, Samadhi, Pinjor, Dom Maro Dom, Banglar Mukh, Agnishikha, Ochena Othithi, Bondhu, Dabi, Moheshkhalir Banke, Bedbeen, Dosti, Amir Fakir, Ucchila, and Ghor Songsar, among many others.
