Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on every citizen to plant at least one tree to help build a greener and healthier Bangladesh for future generations.
Speaking at the inauguration of the nationwide 250-million tree plantation campaign at the Malumghat Reserved Forest in Dulahazara, Cox’s Bazar, on Saturday, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
“Think about the future of your children. Plant a tree wherever possible so that future generations can breathe clean air and grow up in a healthy environment,” he said.
The Prime Minister noted that the successful implementation of the tree plantation campaign would contribute significantly to improving air quality, reducing environmental degradation, and ensuring a safer ecological future for the country.
Recalling the government's election pledge, he said that the administration had promised to plant at least 50 million trees annually if elected to power. As part of that commitment, the government has now launched a five-year plan to plant 250 million trees across Bangladesh.
“We can transform Bangladesh into a country with cleaner and fresher air if we work together and make this initiative successful,” he added.
The Prime Minister also directed deputy commissioners across the country to take proactive measures to turn their respective districts into greener and more environmentally friendly regions.
Officially launching the campaign, he expressed hope that the nationwide initiative would help create a pollution-free and sustainable environment, ensuring a better quality of life for future generations.
