The day will be observed through poetry recitals, documentary programmes, discussion sessions, cultural performances and a live concert.
Bangladesh Television (BTV), i and other television channels will broadcast special programmes. Through live coverage, recollections, discussions and cultural performances, the channels will highlight the events of November 7, 1975, and the day’s significance in Bangladesh’s political history.
BTV’s schedule will begin in the morning. At 10am, the state broadcaster will air live coverage of an event organised by the armed forces at the Army Stadium in Dhaka.
At 4:30pm, BTV will broadcast a poetry recital programme hosted by Dr Anarul Haque. The programme will feature conversations with eight poets, along with eight poems written on the theme of Revolution and Solidarity Day.
A special documentary titled The Days of the Revolution will be broadcast at 10:40pm, followed by a special discussion programme at 11pm. Hosted by Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun, the discussion will feature Prime Minister’s Adviser and BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan. BTV will also broadcast the open-air concert at Manik Mia Avenue live in the evening.
One of the main attractions will be the open-air music event titled Concert for Solidarity at Manik Mia Avenue. Organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the seven-hour concert will feature seven popular Bangladeshi bands.
Nagar Baul James, Miles, Warfaze, Feedback, Artcell, Shironamhin and Mechanics will perform on stage in succession.
According to information released by the organisers, the concert entrance will open at 3:30pm, while the main performances will begin at 4pm. The event will be managed by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, with support from the Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA).
The concert is open to everyone. Organisers expect the event to create a festive atmosphere while marking the occasion through music.
Various cultural programmes will also take place across the country as part of the government’s official celebrations. District and upazila administrations will organise discussion meetings, patriotic music events, exhibition football matches, and drawing and essay competitions for children.
National newspapers will publish special articles and supplements, while television and radio stations will broadcast dedicated programmes. Documentary films will also be screened at cinema halls and through mobile exhibitions.
