Shwapno has introduced live music performances at its newly launched food court in Maghbazar, offering Dhaka residents a unique blend of music and dining that is already drawing enthusiastic crowds.
Although the number of music cafés in the capital declined significantly after the COVID-19 pandemic, the new initiative has revived the culture of enjoying live music alongside meals. Music lovers from Maghbazar, Malibagh, Mouchak and Eskaton are regularly gathering at the venue to enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Located on the second floor of the newly opened Shwapno outlet in Maghbazar, the food court hosts live performances every evening from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm throughout the week. The performances feature a variety of genres, including modern Bangla songs, band music and popular English tracks.
Artists Tarek, Alif, Ratan, Sadi and Loban are currently performing on a rotating schedule. Visitors are also showing appreciation by rewarding performers with cash tips, continuing a long-standing cultural tradition.
Alongside the musical entertainment, the food court offers a wide range of affordable food items. The menu includes Thai soup, beef rezala with khichuri, fried rice with chicken, as well as low-cost breakfast options with vegetables or egg omelettes.
Snacks such as samosas, vegetable rolls, pizza, sandwiches and burgers are also available, along with a selection of desserts, juices and hot and cold coffee beverages. Popular coffee options, including espresso, cappuccino and Americano, are being served at affordable prices.
Many visitors are now combining dinner plans with live music at the newly opened venue, turning the food court into a lively evening destination.
Organizers believe that similar initiatives across different parts of Dhaka could help revive the city’s once-thriving culture of music cafés and create more vibrant social spaces for residents.
