British Woman Fatally Shot by Father After Political Argument in Texas

A 23-year-old British woman was shot and killed by her father in Texas following a heated argument about U.S. President Donald Trump and related political issues, an inquest in the United Kingdom has heard.
The woman, identified as Lucy Harrison from Warrington, was visiting her father, Kris Harrison, at his home in Prosper, near Dallas.
The incident occurred on January 10, 2025, just hours before she and her boyfriend were due to fly back to the UK.
Testimony presented at the Cheshire Coroner’s Court described how a “big argument” about President Trump and firearms escalated between Lucy and her father earlier that day.
Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the court that Lucy often became upset during debates about her father’s gun ownership.
The argument intensified when Lucy asked her father a sensitive hypothetical question connected to Trump’s political controversies, leaving her visibly upset.
Later in the afternoon, Lucy’s father took her into his bedroom and, shortly afterward, a gunshot was heard. Emergency responders found Lucy with a fatal wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her father later told authorities that the weapon, a handgun he kept for security, discharged unexpectedly while he was showing it to her. He admitted that on the day of the incident, he had been drinking alcohol.
Local law enforcement investigated the shooting as a potential case of criminally negligent homicide, but a grand jury in Collin County declined to indict Kris Harrison on manslaughter charges.
The inquest in the UK continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, highlighting complex issues involving family conflict, gun access, and political divisions. Those who knew Lucy described her as a passionate and caring individual.
