Government Plans to Send 10,000 Workers to Malaysia at No Cost: Expatriates’ Welfare Minister

The government has taken an initiative to send 10,000 Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia without any cost to the workers, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has said.

He made the statement while addressing a consultation meeting held at the conference room of the Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner’s office on safe migration and preventing illegal overseas travel. The information was published on the Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell.

The minister stressed the importance of providing workers with proper training and language skills before they travel abroad. He said sending workers overseas is not enough; they must also be equipped with the necessary skills to secure better employment opportunities.

As part of the initiative, the government plans to establish five training centres in the five constituencies of Sunamganj, he said. Elected representatives and the local administration will need to work together to ensure adequate trainers and trainees at the centres.

The minister also emphasised the importance of language training for overseas workers. He encouraged prospective migrants to acquire skills in English, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

He urged workers to acquire the necessary skills and travel abroad only through legal channels, stressing the importance of safe and regular migration.
