Mohammad Mohasin has received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) 2026 honour in recognition of his significant contributions to the rights of persons with disabilities, inclusion in sports, volunteerism and social development. As the founder and captain of the Bangladesh Wheelchair Cricket Team, he has long been working to promote sports participation, leadership development and social empowerment among persons with disabilities.

Although Mohasin lost his mobility after contracting polio during childhood, he did not allow his physical limitations to become a barrier. Instead, he turned his wheelchair into a source of strength and took initiatives to create new opportunities for persons with disabilities. His journey began in 2010. Under his leadership, he has played an important role in developing wheelchair cricket in Bangladesh, organising players and creating opportunities for the country to be represented at the international level.

One of the key objectives of Mohasin’s work is to establish persons with disabilities not merely as recipients of assistance, but as talented athletes, capable organisers and active leaders in society. He continues to work on building their confidence through sports, reducing social discrimination, developing leadership skills and creating employment opportunities.

He believes that disability should never stand in the way of a person’s dreams, abilities or potential. With appropriate opportunities, training, a supportive environment and social recognition, persons with disabilities can make significant contributions at both national and international levels.

The TOYP 2026 honour is an important recognition of his longstanding volunteer work, ethical leadership, commitment to disability inclusion and contributions to social change. The achievement is expected to encourage greater public participation in the movement to uphold the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.

Mohasin’s achievement is not merely a personal success; it is also an inspiration for young people with disabilities in Bangladesh to pursue their dreams, take leadership roles and demonstrate their abilities. He hopes that equal opportunities will be ensured for persons with disabilities in sports, education, employment and leadership across Bangladesh.

The honour bestowed on Mohammad Mohasin demonstrates that true leadership is not defined by physical ability, but by a commitment to serving people, perseverance and efforts to bring positive change to society.
