Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Zahir has been attached to a relevant branch of Police Headquarters following a raid by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) at a house he had rented out in the capital’s Bhatara area.

The information was disclosed in an office order issued by Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Tuesday, October 20. The order was signed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir.

According to the order, Abdullah Al Zahir, a supernumerary Additional DIG and recipient of the BPM-Service and PPM (Bar) medals, has been attached to the relevant branch of Police Headquarters. The attachment will remain in effect until further instructions, and the order took immediate effect.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the DB conducted a raid at the house in the Police Housing-1 area under Bhatara Police Station. During the operation, 84 men and women were detained, and a large quantity of alcohol was seized from the property.

According to the DB, the house was rented out through Airbnb, a short-term accommodation platform. The raid was conducted following allegations of immoral activities at the property.

Several attempts were made to contact Abdullah Al Zahir by phone for his comments on the DB operation, but he did not answer. His mobile phone was subsequently found to be switched off.
