Steadfast Courier faces questions over compliance, accountability

Steadfast Courier, one of the country's leading logistics and e-commerce delivery service providers, is facing growing questions over its internal compliance, corporate accountability and workplace environment following a series of allegations involving violence, employee management and data security.
The latest concerns have emerged amid uncertainty over the current status of a police case filed after a pickup driver was allegedly assaulted, the action taken against those accused and whether the injured driver received adequate compensation.
The company has not yet issued any official statement on the allegations.
Questions over driver assault case
According to sources, a case filed over the alleged assault of the pickup driver is still under investigation. However, no final charge sheet or investigation report has reportedly been submitted to the court yet.
A source familiar with the matter claimed that the investigation process has effectively slowed down, raising questions over whether any informal settlement may have been attempted between representatives of the company and the drivers' association.
Police, however, said the legal process was continuing in accordance with the law.
The allegations have also raised questions about the company's internal disciplinary action.
Sources claimed that officials accused of being directly involved in the alleged assault were still working for Steadfast and that no major disciplinary action, including suspension, had been taken against them.
Workplace safety and corporate compliance experts said companies should conduct internal investigations and take appropriate action when serious allegations of violence arise.
Concerns over internal work culture
Some sources have also raised questions over the company's recruitment and human resource practices, alleging that a significant number of employees and field-level workers come from a particular region.
They claimed that such concentration has contributed to the formation of informal groups within some operational hubs and created a perception of regional influence and discrimination against employees from other areas.
However, these allegations could not be independently verified.
Separate reports have also alleged that employees of the company were involved in a confrontation with police during a recent incident. Several police personnel, including the officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, were reportedly injured.
The circumstances surrounding the incident and the extent of the involvement of Steadfast employees are yet to be independently established.
Compensation remains unclear
It also remains unclear whether the injured pickup driver received full medical support or financial compensation.
A source from the drivers' association claimed that company representatives held an informal meeting with association leaders after the incident and offered some financial assistance for the driver's treatment.
However, the source said no long-term compensation or support package was confirmed.
Steadfast has not publicly disclosed details of any compensation or medical assistance provided to the driver.
Data breach raises fresh concerns
The allegations come at a time when the company is also facing questions over cybersecurity.
In April, a hacker group claimed that it had breached Steadfast Courier's central database. The group reportedly claimed that the leaked data included information on e-commerce merchants, delivery histories, and customer names and addresses.
The alleged database was reportedly offered for sale on the dark web for $2,000.
The claim could not be independently verified. Steadfast has not publicly confirmed the alleged breach or disclosed the extent of any potential data compromise.
Cybersecurity experts said that if customer and merchant information had indeed been exposed, the incident would raise serious questions over the company's data protection and information security practices.
Merchants are concerned about trust
The allegations have started to raise concerns among some e-commerce merchants who rely on courier companies to handle customer information and delivery operations.
Several online entrepreneurs, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the reliability of a logistics company depends not only on delivery performance but also on legal compliance, employee conduct, and data security.
“If there are allegations of violence at the field level and customer data is reportedly being offered on the dark web, merchants naturally become concerned about their business,” one entrepreneur said.
Some merchants have reportedly started considering alternative courier services, although the scale of any such shift could not be independently verified.
For a logistics company, corporate governance, workplace safety, legal compliance, and data protection are central to maintaining customer and merchant trust.
The unresolved questions surrounding the alleged driver assault, reported police confrontation, and alleged data breach have now put Steadfast Courier's internal accountability and compliance systems under scrutiny.
Steadfast Courier was contacted for comments on the allegations. Its response had not been received at the time of publication. This report will be updated if the company responds.
