Agora Fined Tk 100,000 for Selling Products Without BSTI Approval

Dhaka, July 6, 2026: A mobile court has fined Agora Limited Tk 100,000 for selling food products without mandatory approval from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution.
The drive was conducted on Monday at the retailer’s outlet on Selina Parveen Road in Moghbazar as part of a routine market surveillance campaign.
During the inspection, officials found that baking powder, icing sugar, and custard powder were being sold without the required BSTI certification. Following the findings, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk 100,000 on the outlet under the relevant laws.
The enforcement team included SM Abu Sayeed, Deputy Director (CM), Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director (Metrology), and Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Assistant Director (CM).
The prosecution team comprised Md. Ashikuzzaman, Sikandar Mahmud, and SM Mahfuzar Rahman.
Officials said the action was taken as part of ongoing market monitoring efforts aimed at ensuring consumers have access to safe and quality-assured products, adding that similar enforcement drives will continue.
