Rupayan Group Chairman’s Mother Farida Begum Laid to Rest, Condolences Pour In

Farida Begum, mother of Rupayan Group Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, has passed away at the age of 74. She fell critically ill at her residence in Gulshan, Dhaka, late Saturday night and was taken to a hospital, where attending physicians pronounced her dead.

Her namaz-e-janaza was held after Zuhr prayers on Sunday at Gulshan Azad Mosque. She was later laid to rest at Banani Cemetery.

Farida Begum is survived by four sons, grandchildren and numerous relatives and well-wishers.

Speaking before the funeral prayer, Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul became emotional while recalling his mother and their close relationship. He remembered her affection and care and said that her absence had left a deep void in the family.

He requested everyone present to pray for his mother and asked those who may have been hurt by any of her words or actions to forgive her.

He also said that his mother had performed Hajj and Umrah and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Ferdous.

Recalling his mother’s role in the family, Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul expressed gratitude for the way she kept her four sons together and maintained strong family bonds.

Among those attending the funeral were her grandson Mahir Ali Khan Ratul, Co-Chairman of Rupayan Group and publisher of Desh Rupantor; her son and Rupayan Group Vice Chairman Ali Akbar Khan Ratan; and her grandson and Rupayan Group Vice Chairman Saif Ali Khan Atul, along with other family members.

Her death has cast a shadow of mourning over Rupayan Group and its affiliated organisations. Political figures, business leaders, media professionals and representatives of various social organisations expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Those who attended the funeral and offered condolences included Daily Agamir Shomoy Editor Mostafa Mamun, REHAB Senior Vice President Abdur Razzak, architect Rafiq Azam, US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Abdullah Al Mamun, actor Nader Chowdhury and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Advocate Mohammad Tajul Islam, among others.

Officials and employees of Rupayan Group, government officials and people from different walks of life also attended the funeral and expressed sympathy to the family.

May Allah grant the departed soul eternal peace and give strength to the bereaved family.
