In light of the global fuel supply crisis caused by tensions in the Middle East, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has introduced strict fuel distribution measures to ensure fair access and prevent hoarding.

Under the new regulations, commercial and public transport vehicles will face fuel limits as follows:

Local buses or pickup trucks will be allowed a maximum of 70 to 80 liters of diesel per day.

Long-distance buses, trucks, or covered vans will be limited to 200 to 220 liters of fuel per day.

Additionally, personal vehicles will also face restrictions:

Motorcycles will be allowed to collect a maximum of 2 liters of petrol or octane per day.

Private cars (sedans) will have a maximum limit of 10 liters per day.

SUVs, jeeps, and microbuses will be allowed between 20 and 25 liters of fuel per day.

These measures come in response to the ongoing fuel shortage concerns, which have been exacerbated by the global decline in fuel supply linked to geopolitical instability in the Middle East. This has led to panic buying, with people flocking to fuel stations to stock up on fuel, creating further strain on the country's fuel supply system.

To manage the situation effectively, the BPC has also mandated that:

Every customer must obtain a receipt when purchasing fuel.

Customers will need to show the receipt during subsequent fuel purchases to ensure that the fuel allocation is being properly tracked.

Fuel dealers are now required to report their accurate stock and sales data to obtain fuel from the depots. Dealers will not be allowed to receive more than the allotted fuel limit.

Authorities have stressed that no dealer will receive fuel beyond their allocated quota, with the BPC emphasizing that these measures are essential to prevent any widespread hoarding and ensure fair distribution during this challenging period.
