The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has launched a two-day training workshop for its parliamentary party members, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the party chairman's office in Gulshan on Friday morning, March 6.

The first session of the workshop was attended by ministers, state ministers, and advisors of the party. Speaking to the media after the first session, Home Minister and party advisor Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the training aims to provide new Members of Parliament (MPs) with an understanding of parliamentary practices.

Discussions were held regarding the MPs' roles in parliamentary proceedings and how to approach issues related to law and parliamentary procedures.

Salahuddin Ahmed also revealed that the opposition party had proposed that the current Deputy Speaker’s position be maintained. According to the constitutional provisions, the President’s speech will continue to be delivered in parliament, ensuring that the President's privileges and entitlements remain intact.

The second session of the workshop will begin at 2:30 PM, where MPs from Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Rangpur divisions will participate. This session aims to provide insights into parliamentary activities, including bills, the budget, and the work of standing committees.

The two-day workshop has been designed to enhance MPs’ understanding of their responsibilities, parliamentary customs, and ministry management through strategic inputs from experienced former civil servants, academicians, and former MPs. The goal is to ensure that MPs are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively.

On the second day, MPs from Dhaka, Sylhet, Cumilla, and Chattogram will participate in the session.

It is also worth noting that the first session of the 13th National Parliament will begin on March 12 at 11 AM.
