Ministers and Bureaucrats Will Not Be at Airport During Prime Minister’s Foreign Trip and Return

The Bangladesh government has announced that ministers and high-ranking bureaucrats will not be present at the airport when the Prime Minister returns from foreign visits, in an effort to avoid long queues and unnecessary congestion at Shahjalal International Airport.
The decision follows concerns regarding the excessive presence of government officials at the airport during high-profile arrivals and departures, which had previously caused significant delays and overcrowding. The government has emphasized that the airport’s limited resources and space must be prioritized for the smooth facilitation of passengers and operational processes.
In the announcement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) clarified that only officials directly involved in security or diplomatic functions will be present to handle the required procedures. The initiative is designed to reduce unnecessary disruptions and increase efficiency during the Prime Minister’s arrival or departure.
Sources from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism said that the move is part of broader efforts to streamline airport operations and ensure that the focus remains on the public and essential airport services, especially during the handling of high-profile events.
This decision has been welcomed by many, as it is expected to improve the overall airport experience for ordinary passengers and ensure that the Prime Minister’s travel remains smooth and without unnecessary delays.
