Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have arrested 10 individuals from different countries, including a Bangladeshi national, for allegedly publishing misleading and fabricated missile-strike videos on social media during the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

According to the country’s state news agency, the arrests were made after the suspects shared video clips online that falsely portrayed missile attacks and other military incidents. Officials said the content had the potential to create panic and threaten national security and social stability.

UAE Attorney General Hamad Al Shamsi ordered that the suspects face urgent legal proceedings following their arrest. Authorities stated that the individuals deliberately circulated misleading and false video clips depicting missile strikes and explosions that were not related to actual events in the country.

Investigators found that several of the videos included footage showing air defense systems intercepting missiles, missiles falling to the ground, large crowds gathering, and scenes of explosions created using artificial intelligence technology. Officials said some of the content had been manipulated to give the impression that military incidents had occurred inside the UAE.

Authorities also said that certain clips attempted to exploit emotional reactions by featuring children or distressing scenes to heighten public fear. Other videos falsely claimed that local military facilities had been destroyed or that incidents from other countries had taken place within the UAE.

Following the arrests, the Public Prosecution launched an investigation and began interrogating the suspects. Prosecutors also ordered that the accused individuals remain in custody while legal proceedings continue.

Officials emphasized that the government will take strict action against anyone who uses digital platforms or advanced technologies to spread misinformation or fabricate events that could endanger the country’s security or public order.

According to authorities, the group of suspects includes citizens from several countries: one from Egypt, one from the Philippines, one from Vietnam, one from Pakistan, one from Iran, one from Bangladesh, one from Cameroon, one from Nepal, and two from India.

The UAE government reiterated that spreading false information or manipulated media during times of regional tension can have serious consequences and warned that such activities will be prosecuted under the country’s laws.
