The Fuel Rationing System will be suspended starting today, as announced by Energy Minister Anindya Islam Amit, in a bid to ease the travel hassles of the public during the Eid holidays.

During a press briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday, March 15, the minister explained that the decision to halt the rationing system has been made to facilitate smooth travel during the Eid season and to meet the needs of farmers during the Boro season. The minister emphasized that the move is to ensure that fuel availability remains adequate for everyone during this crucial time.

The minister also stated that fuel distribution will continue at all distribution points as per demand, and there will be no price increase. The government has assured the public that sufficient fuel supply is expected, with several oil tankers scheduled to arrive in the country, which will boost supply levels.

He warned that if anyone is found stockpiling fuel, strict actions will be taken. The rationing system, introduced earlier for fuel conservation, was aimed at saving energy but has now been temporarily lifted for public convenience.

Additionally, the Energy Minister highlighted that Russian crude oil may be processed by another country for refining. However, a Russian company has confirmed that the oil they plan to supply will be refinable in Bangladesh's refineries.
