A special police operation in the Geneva Camp of Mohammadpur led to the arrest of eight individuals involved in drug trafficking, according to the Tejgaon Division Police.
The operation, conducted on March 14, was based on intelligence reports and involved searches at various points in the camp. The police recovered a significant quantity of drugs during the raid. Following their arrests, the suspects were questioned and charged under the Narcotics Control Act.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mohammadpur Zone, Jewel Rana, confirmed the operation, stating that the authorities are focusing on curbing drug activities, particularly as the Eid season approaches, which typically sees an increase in illicit drug trade activities. He assured that special operations would continue across the city to combat drug trafficking, especially in high-crime areas.
The ADC also highlighted that the cooperation between the government and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has significantly improved the law and order situation, with the Ramadan period being much safer than last year.
