133 Ordinances Sent to Special Committee for Review

A total of 133 ordinances issued by the interim government have been sent to the National Parliament’s Special Committee for review. The committee has been asked to submit its report by April 2 after thoroughly examining these ordinances.
On Sunday, March 15, Law Minister Anisul Haque proposed sending the ordinances to the Special Committee during the parliamentary session. The ordinances were promptly forwarded to the committee after the proposal was accepted. The session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at 11 AM.
As per the Constitution of Bangladesh, any ordinance issued by the President must be presented in the first parliamentary session following its issuance. In compliance with this, the Law Minister presented the ordinances during the first session of the 13th National Parliament last Thursday.
Typically, it is the relevant parliamentary committees that review and report on bills. However, as the ministerial committees are yet to be formed, a Special Committee was established during the first meeting of the 13th Parliament to review the ordinances. This committee will now finalize the report.
