Journalist Anis Alamgir Released from Prison After Three Months

Journalist Anis Alamgir was released from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur after serving three months of imprisonment. He was freed from Kashimpur Jail-2 around midday on Saturday.
Anis Alamgir was arrested on the night of December 14, 2025, from a gym in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). The following day, December 15, 2025, he was formally remanded under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Uttara West Police Station.
A court subsequently approved a five-day remand, after which he was sent to prison. Anis Alamgir has now completed his custodial term and regained his freedom.
Authorities have stated that his release follows the completion of all legal procedures, and the journalist is expected to resume his professional activities.
