BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that ensuring economic fairness and reducing the influence of oligarchic groups are among the key objectives of the current government.

Speaking at a conference titled “Trade, Economic Growth and Economic Diplomacy Action Plan,” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority in Dhaka on Saturday, he outlined the government's vision for Bangladesh’s economic future.

According to the minister, the government is committed to transforming Bangladesh into a self-reliant, stable, and industrially developed nation where every citizen can enjoy equal opportunities, prosperity, and dignity.

He emphasized that the administration is prepared to undertake bold initiatives to unlock new economic opportunities, strengthen resilience, and accelerate sustainable growth.

“The government has been in office for just over one hundred days, but our ambitions are clear and determined. We want to build a Bangladesh where economic progress benefits all sections of society,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul noted that reducing economic disparities and breaking the dominance of powerful oligarchic interests are essential for creating a fair and competitive economic environment.

He further stated that the government aims to expand trade, attract domestic and foreign investment, and strengthen economic diplomacy to generate new growth opportunities and employment across the country.

Earlier in the day, Mirza Fakhrul paid tribute at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia alongside leaders of the newly formed Jubo Dal committee.

Speaking to journalists afterward, he reiterated that establishing economic justice, fairness, and reducing the influence of oligarchic networks remain central priorities of the government.

He also expressed optimism that the country's youth would play a vital role in implementing the vision of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and advancing Bangladesh’s development agenda.
