Clash Erupts Between Two Chhatra Dal Factions at BNP Meeting in Kushtia

A tense situation developed at a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) meeting in Kushtia on Wednesday night after members of two Chhatra Dal factions became involved in an altercation.

The incident took place around 8:30pm on September 23 at Disha Tower in Kushtia town while a district-level meeting with party leaders and activists was underway. The disturbance temporarily disrupted the meeting.

According to eyewitnesses and party sources cited by local media, the meeting began around 7:30pm. A disagreement reportedly began over slogans and later escalated into an exchange of blows. Chairs at the venue were also reportedly thrown during the confrontation.

Senior BNP leaders intervened and brought the situation under control. Additional police were also deployed at the venue to maintain law and order.

Party Leaders' Statements
Kushtia district Chhatra Dal convener Mozaqqir Rahman Rabbi said there was no factional conflict within the organisation. He described the incident as a temporary dispute stemming from slogans and an argument.

Kushtia district BNP convener Qutub Uddin Ahmed also described the incident as a misunderstanding over party slogans. He said senior leaders intervened and resolved the matter, after which the meeting environment returned to normal.

Senior Leaders Attend Meeting
The meeting was chaired by Kushtia district BNP convener Qutub Uddin Ahmed. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit attended the event as the chief guest.

Kushtia District Council administrator Professor Sohrab Uddin, Kushtia-1 lawmaker Reza Ahmed Bachchu, reserved-seat lawmaker Farida Yasmin and district BNP member secretary Engineer Zakir Hossain Sarker were among those present.
