Lutfozzaman Babar Sends 47 BNP Leaders and Activists for Umrah at His Own Expense

Former State Minister for Home Affairs and lawmaker Lutfozzaman Babar has arranged Umrah pilgrimage for 47 BNP leaders and activists from Netrakona-4 constituency at his personal expense.

The group includes members of BNP and its affiliated organisations from Madan, Mohanganj and Khaliajuri. According to reports, the initiative was taken with the aim of encouraging party workers to follow religious practices.

The 47-member group reportedly left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Saudi Arabia on the night of September 22. Babar was present at the airport to see them off, although he did not join the pilgrimage himself.

According to Babar's personal assistant Mirza Mohammad Haider Ali, 18 people from Mohanganj, 17 from Madan and 11 from Khaliajuri were given the opportunity to perform Umrah through Babar's personal funding.

The group includes leaders from BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal at different organisational levels, along with the Madan upazila president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

Several senior local BNP leaders from Mohanganj are also among the pilgrims, including upazila BNP president Selim Karnayen, general secretary Golam Ershadur Rahman, municipal BNP president Jahangir Alam and general secretary Golam Rabbani Putul.

Lutfozzaman Babar said the initiative was intended to encourage party workers in his constituency to follow religious practices. He also said he plans to arrange similar opportunities for more people from his constituency in phases.

Local BNP leaders from Khaliajuri and Mohanganj expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
